Katie
McConnachie now resides in the Island of Antigua, in the West Indies. She began her career painting Special Effects for
cartoons for Hanna Barbera Productions in Los Angeles, California.
Katie's delightful wildlife illustrations utilize Pen & Ink, Acrylic
paintings, Prismacolor pencil and Air Brush techniques, won her Best in Show at the 1988 Antiguan Artists Society Annual Exhibition.
She entered the 1989 Island Arts competition. The largest competition of it's kind held in the Caribbean for 35 years and
received International Awards for Best Other Media, Best Technique and was a runner up for the
Supreme Award for Excellence.
Her resume includes:
opening a number of Art Galleries with her Originals and Prints, Children's book Illustrator, Antiguan Postage Stamp creator
and commercial and residential Muralist with works all over the world.
Katie's favorite medium in Prismacolor pencils, which afford her drawings an
incredible amount of detail work. She also works a great deal in Acrylic paints. Her subject
matter spans from her Pet Portraits of Birds, Cats, Dogs, etc. to Native Island and underwater wildlife.
